Game of Thrones prides itself on the intricate relationships between each of the characters.
While many bonds have formed in the past few seasons, some have deteriorated into little more than hatred.
And although Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) usually maintains his decorum when conducting business with other members of royalty, he isn’t best liked by the current queen of Westeros – Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey).
Jon has recently begun a relationship with Westeros newcomer Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) who is the supposed true monarch of the continent.
This has obviously perturbed Cersei, as she sees herself as the true queen, and doesn’t like the inclusion of Daenerys in her narrative.
But a brand new theory pits Jon against Daenerys as another method of uniting the country has been mentioned.
While Jon, Daenerys, and Cersei are currently working together to take down the Night King (Vladimír Furdík), their cooperation does not guarantee a united country.
Therefore, could Jon and Cersei come together as king and queen?
This marriage would bring the country together as members of both the North’s royalty, and the South’s royalty would be finding a common ground.
Jon has already shown he does not care for titles, but is merely looking for peace.
But Cersei may have more of an issue with it.
She previously married the late Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) for power, but quickly grew to resent him.
Currently Cersei has taken over King’s Landing by herself, without the need of a king.
Would she give up her independence just to look into finding some peace for the country?
Or would she rather kill off her competition to maintain her power?
This theory follows speculation that Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) may venture back in time in the upcoming eighth season.
Fans on Reddit have begun suggesting: “My prediction is that we get an ENTIRE episode, or close to it, that goes back in time and explains and shows this whole history. Maybe as a Bran flashback.
“It would be the only way to give it enough weight and explanation, to tie it into the current events and brining everything full circle.”
This theory follows the age-old speculation that Nissa Nissa and Azor Ahai will make appearances in the final season of the show.
Game of Thrones season 8 will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic on April 14. Seasons 1-7 are currently streaming on NOW TV.
